RIJAG Representative Director Takeo Harada Participates in UN STI Forum 2026

— Engaging in Global Dialogue on AI, Geopolitics, and Sustainable Development —
From May 6–7, 2026 (EDT), Takeo Harada, Representative Director of the Research Institute for Japan’s Globalization (RIJAG), participated in the
“STI Forum 2026 (Science, Technology and Innovation Forum for the SDGs)”
held at the headquarters of the
United Nations
in New York.
RIJAG, which holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), attended the Forum through a UN Grounds Pass issued for participation in official UN activities.
The STI Forum is an official United Nations platform convened under the framework of ECOSOC to advance international dialogue on science, technology, and innovation in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governments, international organizations, universities, research institutions, businesses, and civil society representatives gather to discuss policy approaches to global challenges.
During the Forum, Mr. Harada engaged in discussions concerning international order, sustainability, and technology governance from the perspective of AI, geopolitics, and geoeconomics.
This participation forms part of RIJAG’s broader “Pax Japonica Project,” a long-term initiative aimed at contributing Japanese intellectual perspectives, dialogue, and cooperative frameworks to the international community.
RIJAG will continue deepening collaboration with international institutions, universities, and research communities while actively contributing to intellectual dialogue toward a peaceful and sustainable global order.
