RIJAG President Submits Video Intervention at UN Secretary-General Candidates’ Hearing on AI-Enabled Governance
On April 21 (U.S. Eastern Time), at the public hearing for candidates for the next United Nations Secretary-General held at UN Headquarters in New York, Takeo Harada, in his capacity as President of the Research Institute for Japan’s Globalization (RIJAG), submitted a video question as a representative of civil society.
The question addressed the realization of AI-enabled governance, a theme he is currently researching as part of his contribution to the United Nations University (UNU) AI book series. A response was received from one of the candidates, Rafael Grossi of the International Atomic Energy Agency (Italy/Argentina).
Looking ahead, he will continue to advance the realization of AI-enabled governance in Japan as a model for the transformation of the developmental state, while promoting its global dissemination as part of the broader vision of Pax Japonica.
