What Does It Need for ‘Happiness’ in Japan?

The previous blog discussed Well-being in Japan, in which the categories of ‘work and job quality, health, knowledge and skills, safety’ are highly evaluated by the OECD.
This time, on the other hand, it will discuss the lack of categories in Well-being in Japan.
In the Well-being categories that OECD officially announces, there are 5 categories that Japan is low evaluated. (reference)
Categories/ detailed modules
・Environmental Quality/ accessibility to green
・Subjective Well-being / Life satisfaction
・Work-life Balance/ Time off
・Social Connections/ Social interactions
・Civic Engagement/ Voter turnout
Furthermore, within these categories, there are some categories where there are huge gaps between the upper and lower classes or differences between groups.
Categories/inequality modules
・Subjective Well-being/ Negative affect balance
・Work-life Balance/ Gender gap in hours worked
・Social Connections/ Lack of social support
・Civic Engagement/ Having no say in government
In addition, the World Economic Forum announced the ‘Gender Gap Index 2022’ on 13th July this year. Regarding this index, the Japanese gender gap index ranked 116th of 146 countries, which is the worst rank in G7.

In order to accomplish Pax Japonica and positively lead the world, it could be argued that reducing the gap between people could connect to problem-solving.
